Looking for hiking trails in Pretoria? Welcome to version 3.0. This guide features 41 hiking trails in the Pretoria area, including Centurion, Dinokeng, Cullinan, Rayton and Bronkhorstspruit.

Along the route of the Friends of Magalies Hiking Trail

This is an updated list of hiking trails I have discovered over the past few years. I have hiked some of them and have yet to explore others. I have also made videos of some of the trails, so be sure to check them out. Watching the videos will give you a better idea of what to expect from these trails.

I also included a Google Map Guide where I marked all these trails. This way, navigating towards them should be easy. This list is also a work in progress. Wonderboom Nature Reserve, situated in Pretoria East along the Apies River, spans 242 hectares and offers a rich blend of history, diverse natural features, and outdoor activities suitable for all ages. Named after the iconic Wonderboom, a massive fig tree that is over 1,000 years old, this national treasure is a must-visit destination. 9.Β Jacaranda Tree Guided Walk

This one starts at Loftus Park, located next to Pretoria’s famous Loftus Versfeld Stadium. This is what I like to call an in-season hike. Why? The jacaranda trees usually bloom in spring, from September to November. The exact timing may vary slightly depending on the location and weather conditions; however, October is generally considered the peak month for jacaranda blooms in Pretoria. 11. Oubaas Trail

The Oubaas Trail is located within the grounds of the historic Jan Smuts House in Centurion. 21. Magalies Mountain Lodge Hike Lunch

This is something different. With your hike, you get a Burger, Chips & Milkshake. This is a 1,6km trail. Depending on your fitness level, the duration will be approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours. Afterwards, you are welcome to take a dip in their pool. That should cool you down. Then, if you fancy something else to eat and drink, they have a restaurant ready for your order.
